"A little color on your cheeks wakes up your entire face," says Kimberly Daly, who's written for womens magazines such as Glamour, Shape and Good Housekeeping. That simple splash of color can make all the difference, even if you're not wearing any other makeup, she notes.
When applying a liquid or gel blush, use a dampened sponge instead of your fingers. One of my favorite beauty tools, one that's been heralded by beauty gurus, makeup artists and celebrities, is the Beauty Blender ($19.95). It's a handy tool that can be used for all your makeup purposes.

The color of blush you choose depends on your complexion. To help you decide which color works best for you, pinch your cheeks for 3 to 5 seconds and then wait to see what color they turn. Select a blush that's similar to that color. Another option is to choose a color that matches your lip color.
